Daniel J. Heywood

Associate

Daniel is an associate with Smith, Hemmesch, Burke & Kaczynski where he practices in the areas of real estate taxation, real estate litigation, and real estate transactions.

Prior to joining the firm, Daniel was with the City of Chicago Law Department and clerked in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s real estate tax division.  Daniel also worked as a law clerk at Smith, Hemmesch, Burke, Brannigan & Guerin while attending law school.  As an associate at the firm, Daniel has achieved relief for several clients at the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board and successfully secured property tax exemptions on behalf of many clients.

Mr. Heywood earned a B.A and an M.A. from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. Daniel received his Juris Doctorate from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago.  Daniel is from the Beverly neighborhood in Chicago’s southwest side.
